2007 Synopsis

Coach Moore leads a junior laden, resurgent Center Grove team into battle each and every week. The offense is led by standout QB Jordan Luallen. Complimenting Luallan in the backfield is the four-headed rushing monster of Elliott Dutra, Kyle Jones, Luke Swift, and Tanner Riley. Mike Wood and Garrett Mack are the top receivers in the offense, and the offensive line is led by seniors Adam Hillis and Justin Wood. It is this offensive line that has improved the most on this team, and has allowed the Trojans to get rolling offensively. The offensive line is the same as 2006, and much more experienced. Jordan Luallen has also improved, being judicial with the football and managing the game effectively.

Coach Brian Harbin's defense is among the best in the state of Indiana. The defense is led by standout junior linebacker Anthony Elias. Along with Elias, senior Jon Willey, and junior Jon Rifkind combine for possibly the best linebacking core in the state of Indiana. Junior Keith Dietel is a play-making defensive end, and anchors the defensive line. The secondary is very athletic with seniors Nic Jackson and Nick Mongan. This team play physical, hard-nosed football, and they swarm to the ball. Good luck trying to get touchdown's against this group when fully healthy.

The difference in this Trojan team and other Trojan teams of the past is that this team has great team speed. CG's mentality used to be to out physical other teams and rely on their great team strength to push teams around. This season it is a bit different. Not only are the Trojans pushing people around physically, but they are running through, around, and over them this season. The team speed on this team has made the Trojans a contender in 2007.

The Trojans went 8-1 during the regular season. The campaign was highlighted by wins against Roncalli, Carmel, and Ben Davis. The Trojans went 6-1 in MIC play, losing to Warren Central 28-21 to share the MIC Championship with the Warriors. It was the first MIC Championship for the Trojans since the 2000 season.

The Trojans opened up Sectional 7 play with an impressive offensive showcase against Bloomington North. The Trojans racked up 70 points and over 700 total yards of offense. The Trojans defense did yield points early on in the game, but clamped down in the 2nd half. The injury bug caught the Trojans again, taking down Kyle Jones with a sprained ankle and Brian Doucey with a torn ACL. The Trojans then met Columbus North in the sectional semi-final. The Bulldogs took it t the Trojans up front and dominated the line play. The Trojans were decimated up front, and QB Jordan Luallen had no time to set his feet and throw, and there weren't any holes for the backs to get through. The offense struggled, and the defense struggled against an elite team. The Bulldogs were the best team that night and defeated the Trojans 23-7 to end the season for Center Grove.

Center Grove's future looks bright though. Next season the Trojans look to be the favorites to win the Class 5A State Championship with a lot of great returning talent. The feeder program is thriving and all levels of Trojan football is growing. It should be fun to watch next year!
